2.6.1. Tables using SPSS

With SPSS a few different types of tables are possible:

• Frequency table of a single variable
  • using the Frequencies option
  • using the Custom tables option
  • using a Descriptive statistics shortcut


• Cross table of two variables
  • using the Frequencies option
  • using the Custom tables option


• Frequency table of multiple variables with the same values

• Frequency table of a multiple response set (e.g. survey question with multiple answers allowed)
  • using the Multiple response option
  • using the Custom tables option

You can also use SPSS to create bins from scale variable

• Creating bins from a scale variable
  • using Visual binning
  • using Recode

Unfortunately I'm not aware of any method to generate cumulative frequencies, inverse cumulative (relative) frequencies, or frequency densities with SPSS. Perhaps this is possible using the programming language (syntax) from SPSS, but in the graphical user interface I have not come across any way to show any of these.
